Lingering in protective white filament…

Fires ablaze
Approaching from all around
We climb and push through
to meet on the other side
You wrap me in a sheet of protective white filament
and disappear from sight
as I linger in the attempt to escape

A woman passes me on the street, issuing a haunting reminder to get out now
I’m on it
Even as desperate and soulless figures tear at my truth in their own fear

Put it back together NOW
I direct
The road is mine
I will make it
I am certain
I am equipped
though the stakes are high
This is where I thrive
traversing the mountain on the way
to sanctity….
the cooling and soothing
waters of the great river

and you
